A SmolskiTech Loop is for use anywhere to prevent loading down of signal. The following is a good test to determine if your effects load down your signal: 

· Hook up your effects chain. 

· Play through the chain (all effects switched off), while taking note of volume and tone. 

· Disconnect the cord from the amplifier and replace it with the guitar cord (bypassing effects). 

· Note relative tone and volume. 

If the tone and volume is better and/or louder, you can put a SmolskiTech Loop to good use.  The Loop effectively performs the same function as this test.  It simply automates the process with one footswitch.  Bear in mind, the difference may be subtle.  You’ll have to use your judgment to determine whether or not your setup and test results warrant effective use of a Loop.
